Gateau x Sega
We have loved both of these dogs for a long time and are excited to have the opportunity to use both of these wonderful dogs.
Do you have an application or waitlist?
Applications can be found below our FAQs. Interested families not ready to apply are encouraged to subscribe to our newsletter so that you can stay up to date on our breeding plans, events we attend, and any other information we wish to share. We will do our best to provide approved applicants with a puppy that meets all of your preferences, but that might result in a longer wait time. Characteristics like color and gender are less important when placing puppies than biddability, natural aptitude towards specific activities, and overall conformation. Approved applications require a $500 deposit that will be included in the final purchase price of your puppy.
What if I only want a puppy from a specific pairing?
For the amount of time you have been dreaming of owning a Beauceron, we have been planning each and every pairing. Lots of thought and consideration goes into each breeding and we are extremely proud of each one. That being said, breeding's don't always work out the way we want them to. Frozen semen is imported dead, world pandemics shut down access to travel, bitches just don't take the breeding, etc. Hundreds of things could go wrong that might delay or inhibit a breeding. If you are interested in only a specific pairing, please let us know. If something does happen and we are no longer able to produce puppies from a specific pairing, we will let you know. Trust me, we will be just as heartbroken as you! However, we are happy to help you find the Beauceron of your dreams from a number of other fantastic breeders here in the US and abroad.
Do you have a contract?
Sample contracts are available upon request. Each contract with my puppy owners will be different depending on the needs and characteristics of each placement. Limited and full registration will be determined at the time of contract customization.
How do you raise your puppies?
All puppies will be raised with Puppy Culture and evaluated via Avidog and Puppy Cognition protocols. They and their mother will be given the highest quality nutrition supplemented with raw for the best chance of proper growth in their first few weeks of life. All puppies will go home with:
-
puppy collar
-
leash
-
5lb bag of food
-
a toy
-
AKC Registration
-
microchip information
-
all vaccine information
-
cropping & posting tips (if applicable)
Prior to leaving, all puppies will be socialized, started on crate & potty training, as well as evaluated for possible sport, conformation, and pet placements. Placements will not be determined until after 7 weeks of age. Learn more about Puppy Culture protocols here.
What is a Journée?
The Working Beauceron Association holds a French-style show called a Journée. This event is similar to a dog show where each dog is judged against the breed standard. It differs in the way dogs are judged, officially measured, and evaluated by French judges certified in understanding the Beauceron breed standard. They are also encouraged to participate in a specific temperament test designed to see if each dog's temperament represents the breed standard correctly.
We highly encourage each of our puppy owners to attend at least one Journée to have their dog evaluated by the French judges. Each owner who attends and has their dog participate in both the morphology and temperament portion of the event will be presented with a French/Beauceron-themed gift basket.
Do your breeding dogs live with you?
Yes and no. My working partners reside with me in my home but we may utilize dogs that reside in other breeder's homes OR frozen semen of foreign stud dogs in various European countries. We only partner with breeders of the utmost integrity and expect them to treat their dogs the same way we treat ours.
Can I come meet your Beaucerons?
Of course! I am always happy to meet up with prospective Beauceron owners to meet my dogs. The Florida Beauceron group typically meets up multiple times a year as well which prospective buyers are always welcome to attend in order to meet many different Beaucerons from various lines.
Why do some dogs have letters before/after their names and some do not?
These are titles that indicate that our dogs were successful in either a sport or conformation venue. While these titles are very important to prove that my dogs can do what I say they can do, they do not represent the entire dog. Things like Search and Rescue or ranch work do not always have titles and are more of a lifestyle. We do have plenty of videos showcasing our dog's abilities and are happy to provide them upon request if they are not already public.
Do you sell puppies for specific activities? (i.e. service dogs, protection dogs, SAR dogs, etc.)
Our focus is active working Beaucerons. Many times, various instincts translate over to other sports and activities. This has been proven time and time again by protection sport dogs producing champion herding dogs and vice versa. It is always the hope that the puppy you receive will succeed beyond your expectations at whatever activity you intend for them, however there is no guarantee. Every litter will be evaluated by my SAR team, herding instructor, local protection sport club, and a service dog trainer should there be applications with these interests in mind. Success in these avenues is dependent upon too many things to offer guarantees; we will give you our best educated guess with the information we have and go from there.
What is the puppy price?
As with contracts, pricing is customized to each individual litter. Each pairing comes with different expenses that are impossible to estimate prior to successful breeding. The range I strive for is $1,800 - $2,500 not including cropping, transportation, and additional expenses for older puppies. The payment schedule is as follows:
-
$500 Deposit - required upon application approval
-
$500 Litter Placement - required upon puppy placement within a litter
-
Remainder due upon puppy pick up.
Other payment plans are available upon request but the full price is ALWAYS due at pickup.
I don't do any kind of sports or work, can I still get a puppy from you?
Absolutely! While we do prioritize sport/working homes, every litter has the potential to produce pet puppies. We are happy to work with you on figuring out what kind of dog fits your needs best. If for some reason we do not have something that works for you, we would be happy to refer you to another breeder who might. Fitting your family with the perfect dog is more important to me than you purchasing a puppy from me.
